When planning a trip to NE India, you need to know what travel permits apply to you
– The travel permit requirements vary for Indian and Foreign Nationals who visit India’s Northeast
– Indians require Inner Line Permits (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Nagaland. Indians also require a permit to visit protected areas such as Gurudongmar Lake in Sikkim.
– Foreigners require either Restricted Area Permit (RAP), Protected Area Permit (PAP) or a simple registration on arrival with local police. Foreigners may not be allowed to visit certain areas along the international borders.
